Systems diagnostic

Unlike traditional diagnostic review processes, ONWARD's diagnostic review process is intentionally designed to build the capacity of leaders to take a strategic view of four key school level systems: Purposeful Culture, Academic Infrastructure, Talent Management, and Leadership Practices. ONWARD uses customized tools that feature developmental rubrics designed to allow leaders to not only diagnose the current coherence of systems but to create a clear vision for fully-developed and aligned systems in their schools moving forward. On-site diagnostic reviews include instructional observations, staff surveys, observations of existing structures to support teacher collaboration, focus groups with teachers, community, and students, and leader interviews. ONWARD's final report includes current performance on the developmental rubric, summary of leverage points and systems coherence recommendations, and a customized resource bank to support next steps.

ONWARD Education Consulting is an approved statewide provider of diagnostic reviews funded through the Colorado Department of Education's Diagnostic Review and Improvement Planning Grant. Through this grant, eligible schools may apply for funding to cover the cost of a school-level diagnostic review using the Colorado Department of Education's Standards and Indicators for Continuous Improvement. ONWARD's diagnostic review process is designed to empower school communities to identify strengths and next steps for continuous improvement. The process includes a staff survey, staff introduction to the process, focus groups with school leaders, staff, parents, and students, observations of classroom instruction, a whole-staff debrief, and written report.

At the heart of improved performance lies the design of coherent systems and strategies that create and maintain a focus on teaching and learning aligned to a shared mission and vision. ONWARD Education Consulting specializes in the design, alignment, and refinement of school and district level systems that put instructional improvement at the center of the work. ONWARD will work alongside leaders to build the capacity to design robust systems with clearly defined benchmarks that will drive the effective implementation of key strategies.

ONWARD Education Consulting is an approved statewide provider of Unified Improvement Planning support funded through the Colorado Department of Education's Diagnostic Review and Improvement Planning Grant. Through this grant, eligible schools may apply for funding to cover the cost of facilitated Unified Improvement Planning. ONWARD Education has the tools and proven processes to lead school communities through effective data analysis and root cause analysis, resulting in the identification of systems-level challenges and the development of major improvement strategies that are systems-focused and high-impact.

Lead

change leadership Consulting

ONWARD's change leadership coaching is designed to 1) build leadership capacity to monitor and navigate the implementation of systems designed to bolster improvement efforts; 2) build leadership capacity to consider multiple potential causes of school level issues; 3) build the capacity of principals to effectively apply key change leadership practices in service of school level goals; and 4) attend to the needs of stakeholders throughout the change management process. Coaching sessions center around an ongoing process of clarifying goals, identifying key actions, evaluating progress, problem solving, and revising actions to be taken. Each coaching session includes classroom visits and review of relevant school level data.

the Leadership Series

ONWARD's Leadership Series guides school and district leaders through the practical application of current research on change leadership, with an emphasis on factors that lead to successful organizational change and improved performance. Districts may choose to purchase the entire series of professional development sessions, or select modules that match the context of current work. Each module is available as a half-day or full-day training.
